Coming down the mountains... Wildlife in British Columbia

Wildlife in British Columbia is extremely varied. Horses live alongside bears, cougars and lynx. A herd of wild horses lives on the mountain plateaus just two hours south of us. As spring is slowly settling in, the snow started melting off the side of the roads. The wild horses are now leaving their winter retreat and coming down to lower levels where the grass is.

They are often seen grazing on the side of the road as we spotted them just two days ago. On this picture, you can see two yearlings: one in the right corner, the other is the third horse from the right.

You may think they don't look so wild? Well, don't expect to be able to get anywhere near them, they'll run away in no time! They disappear off into the mountains, joining the other wildlife in British Columbia.
