1 Week Hiking Guide Training Program at Chilcotin Holidays Guest Ranch started on Sunday - How to become a hiking guide

Want to know how to become a hiking guide? Come to Chilcotin Holidays!

In the 1 Week Hike School the students learn everything that you have to know on how to become a hiking guide. A Hike Guide needs to know about packing for a trip, setting up and taking care of a camp, guiding guests, backcountry cooking and horse care (including packing, shoeing and leading).

The Program combine theoretical and practical training. Each training objective is achieved under guided supervision and time is allocated for individual practice and study. The first half of the Program is based out of the Ranch, where theoretical and practical training is provided in a controlled environment. The second half is spent in base camps where the students go out hiking and have first hand experiences where they can apply their newly learned skills to the "real thing".
