Chilcotin Holidays

A bike guide's dream come true

Coming from North Vancouver and being a mountain bike guide I have ridden a multitude of world class trails and along the way I've stopped to enjoy the scenery. Riding on the shore has some great freeride and downhill trails but lacks really great enduro and X-country single-track. Now living and working as a guide in the South Chicotin mountains I am being blown away daily by the amount of great single-track winding through this beautiful territory and the incredible vistas along the way.

The region is home to dozens of trails ranging from quick 1-2 km trails in and around local ponds to epic all day enduro rides deep into the mountains and even shuttled trips to the tops of some amazing mountain ranges that lead to long, cruisy runs that will keep you grinning from ear to ear for hours. A guided experience allows riders to visit and explore the vast wilderness in a safe and environmentally conscience way ensuring the wildlife and its habitat to go undisturbed.

Since being here I have been riding day and night and am continually finding new and exciting trails that lead to some pristine wilderness full of beautiful blooming wildflowers and amazing wildlife. Just last night coming down from the mountain we found a section of trail full of several different types of animal tracks. As far as we could tell there were really clear wolf , deer and rabbit prints and even a few sporadic bear prints. Further down the trail we came around the corner and stumbled upon a pack of wolves getting ready to attack a young fawn but the noise of the bikes was enough to startle the animals and send them off into separate directions. What a thrill to see these animals in their natural environment.

Now, today is another day and I cant wait to get out to find my next adventure. I think I will head out to Gun Creek to explore the river valley gorge. With the summer weather and the mountain run-off the river is rising and gaining power almost by the hour. I'm looking forward to escaping some of the heat and taking some more amazing photos from the banks of the river looking high up into the mountains.
