Chilcotin Holidays

A Guide's Parents Visit

My name is Catherine, the mother of Marie, who has been living in Canada for 2 years. I came to Chilcotin Holidays Ranch with my husband Jean-Michel to see her.

At our arrival, a warm welcome awaited us. We could admire the snowy mountains and green forests. We experienced many different activities that revolved around horses like shoeing, packing, riding, horse logging and much more that we enjoyed a lot. I even overcame my fear to ride a horse thanks to a ride around the ranch which we really enjoyed. After a nice hike, we discovered the beutiful Beaver's pond.

It was also our first time to experience discovering and viewing wildlife with another guide; we were able to observe eagles in their nest with their chicks and many deer who were posing for the pictures. Our guide explained to us how to recognize animal tracks left after their passage and that wildlife go out more often at sunset. After two hours of observation, a dark dot moving on the beach on the other side of the lake caught our intention. Our Guide took out his binoculars and Eureka: a black bear, and a big one! We drove down with the pick up truck onto the dry lake shore to get closer. It was amazing to have a bear just in front of us.

We have a wonderful memory about our stay and we won't forget it soon. We liked to see where our daughter is working and her environment. We are reassured to know that she is in this welcoming and friendly place as well as this beautiful and calm surrounding. We are thankful to Kevan and Leandra for their welcoming, kindness and encourage them to welcome more young people from all around the world.
