Chilcotin Holidays

Losing your landmarks

I live since a year in a big city of France for my studies. Everybody told me this year will be a big change for me, that I will become independent, take my responsibilities. However, it wasn’t a big change for me, I still see my parents and my friends quite often, I live also with my two best friends and my way of living is still the same. Therefore, I didn’t really lose my landmarks this year.

So at the end of the year, I’ve decided to challenge myself and go in Chilcotin Holidays for an internship. Here at the ranch, I lose all my landmarks, my lifestyle, all my habits, and the environment is totally different than mine.

Sometimes it is quite hard, I’ve already asked myself “why am I here?”, I thought of my French life that was so simple and easy. But the goal of being here is to question myself, to overcome the difficulties and face a lot of challenges, to become who I really am.

After only two weeks, I know that I will grow up here, much faster than in France. First of all, because of the English, I have to make me understood by everybody, and sometimes it’s a little bit difficult, so I have to find other way. But also, because I’m not used to ranch life, I’m sure that I will learn a lot about my capacities during ranch hand, and I will have to manage my time to reach the goal in the kitchen.

I’m really happy of that choice, I’m ready to know myself, discover some parts of my personality when I will face challenges, and become more responsible.
