Chilcotin Holidays

Winter Activities

As soon as it started to snow in Canada I bought myself a used Snowboard. Someone else bought a new snowboard and wanted to get rid of his old snowboard so I jumped on that opportunity and my coworker was so kind to pick it up in Williams Lake for me. I also looked for the additional gear but apparently people with size 10 shoes won’t sell their snowboard boots.
Therefore, we had a snowboard on the ranch with no matching gear. But this wouldn’t stop us from using it. Knowing that I have some good hiking boots we gave it a try and surprisingly it worked out very good. Living in the wilderness, we don’t have access to proper ski lifts so you have to walk up on every hill you would like to drive down.
This got tiring very fast so we decided another approach. We took our old snowmobile and some rope which we found in one of the horse stables and we built our own mobile ski lift. Moreover, they ploughed the streets the day before and it snowed quite a bit during the night.
This set the perfect condition to do some snowboarding on the street and if you have ever driven on a small layer of snow on top of a prepared piste, then you know that this is one of the best things to experience on a snowboard. And doing that behind a snowmobile takes this experience to a whole new level.
